Why Cara does this work:
I am committed to this work because I firmly believe that a person's humanity should never be diminished by incarceration, and they should continue to receive the resources and opportunities necessary to transform their lives. Being part of an organization that actively stands against injustice and systems of harm is my greatest motivation.
Cara joined the team at THEI in November 2023. She grew up near Tampa, Florida and received her BA in English from the University of Central Florida. She continued her educational journey by pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Colorado Boulder. With a background in communications, Cara has contributed her skills to several nonprofits, promoting mental health treatment and the literary arts. Outside of her professional commitments to THEI, Cara remains dedicated to her creative writing pursuits and has a passion for actively engaging with the arts.
